J.P. Rouard

Parcours graphiques. The exhibition and catalog bring together the best of what has been produced over more than twenty-five years of teaching graphic design at this workshop of the École de recherche graphique (Erg) in Brussels, under the direction of Jean-Pol Rouard. Different from traditional Ateliers, it has often acted as a free electron, acquiring a quasi-autonomous operation within the institution of which it is a part. L'Atelier has deliberately chosen to be a project-based institute, aiming to anchor itself in the reality of the working world, fully immersing students in the subjects it tackles, and familiarizing them with relations with the various players in the cultural sphere. The active principle of successful teaching is enthusiasm, shared complicity, confidence in the boldness and diversity of experiences. Success seems to have been the order of the day throughout these years, with student works regularly published, distinguished and awarded.
