Fashion (or fashions), and more precisely clothing fashion, refers to the way of dressing, in accordance with the taste of a given period in a given region. It's a phenomenon involving the collective via society, the way it looks, the codes it imposes and individual taste.
Fashion is one of the world's most powerful industries, accounting for 6% of global consumption and growing steadily1.
Fashion involves not only clothing, but also accessories, make-up, perfume and even body modifications. Fashion is sometimes determined by aesthetic research (especially for the great designers). However, fashion is also determined by other factors, for those who follow it: a means of asserting their social rank, social group, purchasing power and personality; or for designers who imitate, a convenient way of earning money and success.
One of its characteristics is that it is constantly changing, encouraging wearers to renew their garments before they wear out or become unsuitable.
